- Alzheimer Society of Washington The Alzheimer Society of Washington (ASW) is an organization of volunteers -- family
and friends of persons affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementing illnesses. The
Alzheimer Society's purpose is to reach persons affected by dementing illnesses with support,
knowledge and resources to empower them in dealing with dementia; to develop in society an
awareness and understanding of the overwhelming devastation caused by the dementias; and to
bring about improvements in the social and health systems serving those affected by dementing
illnesses.

- Community Action for the Disabled CAD fosters community education and awareness in the removal of barriers to accessiblity of facilitites and programs.
- Evergreen AIDS Foundation The mission of the Evergreen AIDS Foundation is to provide community outreach, education, prevention and direct client care with compassion, understanding and respect for diversity for those impacted by HIV/AIDS in Northwest Washington.

- Washington Assistive Technology Alliance -- (WATA)The Washington Assistive Technology Alliance (WATA) is a consumer advocacy network that includes the AT Resource Center at the University of Washington (ATRC), the AT Resource Center at Easter Seal Society in Spokane (EATRC), and the Washington Protection and Advocacy System (WPAS). WATA is supported by a grant from the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) funded through the Washington Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, and enjoys the guidance of a Consumer Majority Advisory Board.

Local Hospital and Emergency Services

- St. Joseph Hospital is a 253-bed, two-campus medical center and Level II Trauma Center in Bellingham. As Whatcom County's only hospital, St. Joseph Hospital provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, including 24-hour emergency and trauma care, neurosurgery, total joint replacement, heart surgery, and comprehensive cancer care.

- Whatcom County Cooperative Extension Working in partnership with USDA, WSU, and community volunteers, Coooperative Extension is an educational/informational resource for
agriculture and home economics.
- Whatcom County Division of Emergency Management The Division of Emergency Management (D.E.M.) is responsible for developing and maintaining a community infrastructure for emergency/disaster mitigation, planning, response, and recovery.
This is accomplished through public education, training of the response community, developing plans, and building teams of responders.
